Dandurand & Sons is a family owned and operated business which is focused on quality and family values. With his wife Katie and 4 children, owner Nathan Dandurand has lived in the Ellsworth area for 13 years. Nathan is active in the community as a coach and volunteer firefighter. Along with his passion for carpentry, Nathan is a registered Maine whitewater guide and an avid outdoorsman.

“Started with a very rough sketch of what we wanted – a room and a bathroom addition to the first floor. We wanted the bathroom to be wheelchair accessible just in case so that meant at least an ADA shower. They took our sketch and turned it into something i am totally in love with. They installed a pocket door between the new addition and the current house. The new bath was next to the existing house and wanted to save wall space so a pocket door was the solution. They had to figure out how plumbing and electrical would work to accommodate pocket door. They made it seem simple but am sure there was many a meeting between carpenter, plumber and electrician. They all worked and communicated well. We had wanted a tongue and groove ceiling which we would then paint, but they recommended a product that was whitewashed and it is the most beautiful ceiling. They installed a floating LIfeproof waterproof flooring though out the addition. The workmanship was of the highest quality.”

“We hired D&S Builders earlier this year to repair some major structural damage to our house. Nate and his entire crew did an outstanding job and we could not be more pleased with the results. The job included a new roof and gutters, replacement of all windows (30 windows, 2 skylights and a glass patio door), and building a new deck. In addition, the house had suffered from extensive wood rot. The team was meticulous in removing all of the rot and replacing with new materials, stabilizing the load bearing walls, wrapping the house properly using HydroGap and residing the house with all new cedar shakes. The repair work flows seamlessly both outside and in, as Nate was able to perfectly color match the paint with the existing custom interior of our house.”
